What I've been doing...

Summer

In July 2002 www.carlos-morales.com was launched. This has been a wonderful year for me and my website and I am totally proud of what I have accomplished, being that there are so many websites that offer pretty much what I offer, but not with the same style that I do. The response from the fans and people in the business has been great all along and there have been so many people to show their support that it really makes me happy and willing to continue to do this, what I enjoy most.

I want to thank you all of you who write to me with encouraging words, compliments or criticism. It wouldn't be the same if there weren't those who challenge me. All that extra work pays off with success, and for that I am grateful.

I would like to thank in particular www.mannet.com for their support and for selecting my website as the "Best Overall porn site of 2002." Also, to Gay Chicago Magazine for giving me the Grabby award of "Best Performer of 2002." I don't have enough words to thank you...you RULE!

Also to my webmasters, Karen, Dave, Jesus and Jaye. Thank you for all your ideas and visions. Your hard work and dedication is a constant source of inspiration.

The photographers that I have worked with, from which I've gotten so many beautiful images that I am so proud to show: Terry Gaskins, Hans Fahrmeyer, Henning von Berg, Michael Snell, Mick Hicks, Ruben Jimenez, Kent Taylor, Jackson and so many others... Our collaborations keep paying off.

To Leonardo, for the creativity and for taking care of so many things that I just don't have the time to do.

Thank you for believing in me and supporting my ideas and my work. I will never forget that.

HAPPY FIRST ANNIVERSARY!

And now back to work...

This year was substantially different from last. I am now a regular dancer at Madrigal's and Juan Nieves (Madrigal's owner) seems comfortable enough to book me there for the major gay events of the season. So it is only logical that there was where I spent most of my time. Every night, for 6 nights starting at 10:00pm.

That gave me time in the day to participate in other events during the week. So I went down to the leather market, which was held at "The Palmer House" this year and seemed relatively smaller than last year's at The Hyatt.

I exclusively hung out at the "Raging Stallion" booth for obvious reasons. Our work seems to be getting better and better and they offer the best deals for me as a performer. So there we were: Kent Taylor, Michael Brandon, Moe, David, JD Slater, Rick Jammer and several others. Unfortunately Chris Ward had to stay in San Francisco working on the finishing touches of his latest masterpiece, accordingly titled "Hard at Work." We missed you Chris, but he already knows that.

Never before I had a chance to hang out for a long time with JD Slater, and he is a lot of fun. I loved the way he offered the people who came by our booth: "what kind of filth can we get for you?". What a suggestive way to prompt a customer to buy our products, and it worked. How great is that?

I also attended the Grabby Awards with the Raging Stallion bunch and one of my best friends, David Yauch, AKA Vanilla. We sat down with them on the best table in the place, right in front of the stage. Chi Chi La Rue was one of 3 MC's and she was hilarious, and the costumes she wore were, how should I say it? hmmm... creative, at least when she came out looking like a green piñata hehehe... The award ceremony opened with a video that was also great. It featured Chi Chi, in some kind of documentary about three hookers on the streets... reminiscing the early days I guess.

Unfortunately, I did not stay long enough to receive my award. I had to leave in the intermission to go to work at Madrigal's. If I would have known I was to win I would have made time and stay to take my award and thank the academy, or better said, The Grabby Academy, if there is one. But you never know what it's going to happen until they say: And the award goes to...

I also had time to work at 3 other events after I finished my nightly engagements at Madrigal's, I mean at around 2:00 or 3:00am. Those were:

1-The Pornopalooza 2003 at Circuit. Friday Night.

This is an event produced entirely by Raul from Jumpstart Productions. There were at least 25 big name porn stars performing that night; and the place was pumping. The soundtrack was courtesy of Brett Hendrichsen, so it couldn't be any better. I performed on stage with Matthew Rush and Jake Gianneli. We really worked the crowd, so they went a bit out of control, but in a good way.

2-The Leather Rites V:RAW at "The Metro"on Clark Street.

This one was on Saturday night. I went there at 3:00 am and I was the last performer of the night. So I had to go on stage alone. At that time most of the crowd was already deep into heavy partying, so they didn't really notice me much. But the music by Bill Bennett was amazing, as usual. This event was produced by Jumpstart as well and sponsored in part by "Borderline Music", the best source for music in the mid west (hello Scott...).

3-The Military Ball at Circuit on Monday night.

Rentboy.com produced this one, and had music by New York DJ Escape. I guess the boys were a bit worn out by Monday night, because it didn't really get crowded, but because of that, we were able to get a little more explicit with our dancing, and at some point we were having sex onstage (oooops!). The few people there loved it, and so did I. Marco Rochelle was the main attraction and Tom Weiss hosted the night. I also had a chance to meet photographers Israel Wright and also Frank Failing from Male Image photography. So work with them is as yet to come... But I have some snapshots of the event here for you.

I also worked with Terry Gaskins again. We are putting together a new gallery that will be available soon on the free section of my website.

And I had the pleasure of meeting Madrid St.Angelo. He is a producer who contacted me through my web page and wanted to interview me. He is currently working on a new public access TV show in Chicago in which he portrays different views on performers of the sex industry, like myself. So we got together on Tuesday morning after Memorial Day and made a great interview in which you get to see a side of myself that you probably have not seen yet (is that still possible???) The answer is yes. And it will ready in the fall. I will keep you posted.

How was that for a week?

After that I went to NY and didn't do much for a few days. And that felt great.

Then after a 2 weeks break, my personal friend and photographer Jackson told me they were doing a new promotion at The View bar in Chelsea, sponsored by Manhunt.net. The deal was simple, I had to do a live photo shoot there (no nudity because of strict NY State laws) and they pay a model's fee and advertise my website on their search engine. Aaron Tanner, with whom I have worked before in a couple of videos for Raging Stallion, is the promoter of the night and they seem to be doing great. Congrats on your new ventures, Aaron.

I finally got together again with Hans Fahrmeyer and did a quick photo session. He has photographed me more than any other photographer ever had, I guess he knows my body so well that he really brings out the best in me. Take a look.

Then, it was the end of June and I had to go to Chicago again for Gay Pride celebrations. I never did Gay Pride other than in NY, and it was great. I worked at Madrigal's again and met the Southern Comfort dancers. Cool guys. And for the parade, I had been hired to be on the Altoids float, which have a reputation for being the best floats. True to the word, they had the best selection of dancers and we had the best energy. Everyone cheered at us and we had some people come up to us to kiss us and photograph us. It was a lot of fun.

Right after that, I came back to NY and started working that same day at the Gaiety Theater. I was really tired from the previous week in Chicago, buy I did really well.

I was working a lot those 2 weeks in Chicago and NY. I had to do it like that because I was going to go on a long trip with my family on July. There is where I am writing this from. But I will tell you about my latest trips next time.

For now, I just want to wish you a wonderful summer...like the one I am having.

Thanks again for being there.

Love,

CARLOS MORALES
